The Importance of Volunteering

At Girls on the Run, we recognize that our programs wouldn’t be able to run so smoothly without the gracious support of our donors, sponsors, and volunteers. We have around 400 volunteers annually that help us with tasks ranging from event set ups to coaching practices to 5k fun! Because volunteers are so central to our mission, we wanted to highlight WHY volunteering is so important, how you can get involved in your community, and what easy volunteering looks like.

Spring Community Impact Projects

The GOTR curriculum encourages teams to take the extra step and utilize their newfound confidence and can-do attitude to give back to their communities. Community Impact Projects are a vital part of each season, as each team identifies areas of their community that are in need and brainstorms ways to potentially help them. This Spring, our ten Girls on the Run teams in Memphis had a blast choosing and executing their Community Impact Projects. From school yard clean-ups to bake sales, these girls certainly rose to the occasion and made a difference where it matters most. Read on to learn about just a few of the CIPs our #GOTRGirls completed this spring!

Recapping Unstoppable Us!

This spring, Girls on the Run Memphis embarked on a new mission: Unstoppable Us. Unstoppable Us is an entirely optional, girl-led fundraising campaign that empowers participants in our programs to give back and spread the GOTR message in their communities. Read all about this new program and how our girls rose to the challenge this season!

Get Blinged Out with Kendra Scott and GOTR Memphis!

Stop by the Saddle Creek Kendra Scott on May 5th between 4PM and 7PM for sips, sweets, and jewelry for a good cause. 20% off all purchases during this time frame will be donated back to GOTR Memphis, benefiting our scholarship fund that ensures no girl is turned away from our life-changing programs for an inability to pay. You can also shop online at kendrascott.com from May 4th through May 6th and use the code GIVEBACK-IXZYL to participate, as well!

Why Unstoppable Us?

Unstoppable Us is a girl-led fundraising program that provides financial assistance so more girls can join our teams and experience the life-changing impact of Girls on the Run. Participation is optional and allows participants to share what they have learned in our program and increase awareness about our program. Participants are among our most enthusiastic advocates since they experience the benefits of our program firsthand: new friendships, increased confidence, and an understanding of their influence on the community and world around them. Hear what a few of our Girls on the Run coaches have to say about this fundraiser so far!

Announcing Unstoppable Us!

GOTR Memphis is excited to launch the peer-to-peer fundraising campaign Unstoppable Us for the first time ever this spring. Unstoppable Us is a completely optional, non-competitive campaign that empowers our program participants to join us in our promise to keep Girls on the Run accessible to all folks in the 901, regardless of ability to pay. Girls who raise over $100 will earn special GOTR capes for 5K day!

GOTR's Molly Barker & The Empowered Giving Circle

Girls on the Run Memphis is thrilled to welcome Molly Barker to the 901 ahead of our Empowered Giving Circle fundraising event March 30th! Molly will be speaking about her incredible journey and how she overcame the challenges in her way on Sunday, March 30th at the Annesdale Mansion. While the event is free to attend, it serves as a fundraiser and information session for the GOTR Memphis Empowered Giving Circle, a group of community champions that make a significant annual or monthly contribution to GOTR Memphis.
