This spring, Girls on the Run Memphis embarked on a new mission: Unstoppable Us. Unstoppable Us is an entirely optional, girl-led fundraising campaign that empowers participants in our programs to give back and spread the GOTR message in their communities. While this fundraising campaign had been around nationally for several years now, this was the first season that GOTR Memphis decided to try out this unique initiative. 

Thanks to our fantastic participants and their support systems, GOTR Memphis raised $2,400 through Unstoppable Us this spring. To put this total into perspective, that’s enough for us to host two whole teams of girls on complete scholarships this fall. Girls in the 901 are using their #starpower to shine on throughout their community, and we couldn’t be more proud of the fantastic work they’re doing putting their GOTR Tool Box to the test. 

In order to show our appreciation for the GOTR Girls who participated in the fundraiser, GOTR Memphis promised every girl who raised over $100 online or through cash donations a brand new Girls on the Run cape to wear on 5K day. We were so fortunate that several donors and board members decided to make this deal even better. Thanks to them, any girl who raised money for Unstoppable Us–whether it was $20 or $200–had their fundraising total bumped up over the $100 threshold. This meant 15 participants got shiny blue or gold capes for the 5K race!
