A community event where all our GOTR teams come together to celebrate the completion of their program. They’ve been training hard to run or walk their 5K (3.1 miles) AND you’re invited to join in the festivities and 5K event!

Sunday, November 13th at 2pm at the Overton Park Shell. Girls and families are invited to join at 12:30pm for fun pre-race activities!

As a reminder, this is a fun, celebratory event for our participants and not a competitive race. While our fastest 5K participants will complete the course in 25 minutes, most cross the finish line in 30-50 minutes. Everyone who participates is encouraged to walk, roll, push, run or skip at their happy pace!

No, neither girls nor coaches need to register for the 5K.

First, we understand that life happens, and circumstance might make it impossible to attend.

We strongly encourage that all participants attend and complete the 5K, as it is the goal that teams are preparing for all season long! It’s the ultimate opportunity to build confidence through accomplishment. Remember, this is the first 5K event for many – including coaches, participants, friends and family members. We are in it together!

Coaches will hand out 5K shirts and bibs to the girls during their final practice, the week of November 7th.

She should bring her filled water bottle, 5K race bag, 5K t-shirt, 5K race- bib and her amazing attitude! She should wear appropriate exercise clothing and sneakers. Check the weather to make sure she’s got the right gear!

A Running Buddy is an individual designated by the council or by the parent/guardian to complete the 5K alongside a program participant during the 5K event, for the entire duration of the course.

Yes! Every girl needs a Running Buddy to accompany them along the 5K course. You can choose to be her Running Buddy- or help them find a friend or family member to join them on their 5K. Anyone wishing to run or walk the 5K (Running Buddies included) must register to participate at the 5K.

Absolutely! Every registered participant who completes the 5K will receive a medal.

You can pick up your race packet on Saturday, November 12th from 10-1 pm at Fleet Feet, 4530 Poplar Avenue or Sunday, November 13th from 12:30-1:30 at the Overton Park Shell.

Anyone! We encourage you to invite friends, family, and school/program site staff. We welcome these individuals to run or walk the 5K, volunteer to help at the event, and cheer on the girls on their special day. Any individual wishing to run the 5K must pre-register for the event.

Yes. All 5K registration forms include liability waivers.

Yes! Join us in  Overton Park Shell for all pre-race activities:  face painting, decorate your race bib, photo booth, special guests, a DJ and more!  These activites are open to the entire community!

Yes, the price increases on November 2nd.

For safety reasons, every participant must wear a race bib (provided by the council). Our council ensures every participant has a running buddy, and only critical 5K volunteers have access to confidential information.

To ensure every participant crosses the finish line, we monitor the course and conduct head counts. Our council has a safety plan in place, which trains staff and volunteers on how to respond during an emergency or incident.

Yes. Girls on the Run 5K events are for everyone! All participants can walk, run, push or roll safely and at their own happy pace. Designated parking spots are available.

Please don’t hesitate to contact Mia-Miracle Craig with questions.
