A community event where all our GOTR teams come together to celebrate the completion of their program. They’ve been training hard to run or walk their 5K (3.1 miles) AND you’re invited to join in the festivities and 5K event!

Sunday, April 30th at 2pm at the University of Memphis.  Join us at 1pm  for fun pre-race activities!

As a reminder, this is a fun, celebratory event for our participants and not a competitive race. While our fastest 5K participants will complete the course in 25 minutes, most cross the finish line in 30-50 minutes. Everyone who participates is encouraged to walk, roll, push, run or skip at their happy pace!

No, neither girls nor coaches need to register for the 5K.

First, we understand that life happens, and circumstance might make it impossible to attend.

We strongly encourage that all participants attend and complete the 5K, as it is the goal that teams are preparing for all season long! It’s the ultimate opportunity to build confidence through accomplishment. Remember, this is the first 5K event for many – including coaches, participants, friends and family members. We are in it together!

We love our furry friends, just ask Coach Cookie! Unfortunately, no pets are allowed at the 5K event.

Coaches will hand out 5K shirts and bibs to the girls during their final practice, the week of April 24th.

She should bring her filled water bottle, 5K race bag, 5K t-shirt, 5K race- bib and her amazing attitude! She should wear appropriate exercise clothing and sneakers. Check the weather to make sure she’s got the right gear!

A Running Buddy is an individual designated by the council or by the parent/guardian to complete the 5K alongside a program participant during the 5K event, for the entire duration of the course.

The Girls on the Run 5K Celebration takes place on the University of Memphis Campus, specifically on the Alumni Mall.  Free parking is available in lot 20 (the uncovered lot off Southern).  This is next to the Brad Martin Student Wellness Center.(3735 Southern Avenue)  You will then walk on the elevated pedestrian bridge across Walker and Southern, which takes you directly down onto the Alumni Mall.

Yes, the price increases on April 18th.

For safety reasons, every participant must wear a race bib (provided by the council). Our council ensures every participant has a running buddy, and only critical 5K volunteers have access to confidential information.

To ensure every participant crosses the finish line, we monitor the course and conduct head counts. Our council has a safety plan in place, which trains staff and volunteers on how to respond during an emergency or incident.

Yes. Girls on the Run 5K events are for everyone! All participants can walk, run, push or roll safely and at their own happy pace. Designated parking spots are available.
